MINERO

Deep in the Bolivian Andes, men and boys descend into the earth each day to carve out a living from one of the world’s most dangerous and high altitude mines.

Filmed inside the mountain of Cerro Rico in Potosi, Bolivia, sitting at over 4,500 meters above sea level. Minero follows three miners at different stages of their lives: a 19-year-old full of the hope to get out of the mines fast with promised quick money to open life's doors, a middle-aged man trapped by circumstance and that same opportunity, and an elderly miner who has accepted the mine as his fate and ultimate demise.

Shot entirely on site and almost entirely underground, the film captures the raw human cost of survival, tradition, and faith in a place where the line between life and death is thin and constant.
